We decided to pick Mikey as our first ever skater of the month for three reasons; hes skates fast, he charges hard and he skates everything!
Although Mick lives in Hollywood and we dont get to skate together that often, I still don't think I have ever met anyone more dedicated to skateboarding or anyone with such a positive "yes we can do this" outlook about everything he is involved in.
22 year old "Mickey Mouse" as he is called was the winner of the this years Maloof Best Line Contest in Miami at Westwind Lakes Park.  A few days later we caught up to the scruffy, Holley, New York native  at the Maloof Best Line Finals in Las Vegas were he held his own against Pros and Ams from all over the country. Bad news came when he rolled an ankle and was too hurt to  compete 100% during the second day of the finals, but with his usual easy going additude he just kept smiling and skating like it was all good.
What can I say, the guy just loves to skate.

Unfortunatly, our schedules never matched up for a face to face interview so we ended up doing the whole thing via text messages.

Me:
 Whats your current setup?
Mickey:
Essentials Dank deck, Reds bearings, Bones STF 56 Wheels.
Me:
Whats your favorite music to skate to?
Mickey:
White Stripes and anything that makes you wanna go faaaast!
Me:
Do you have a favorite skate spot in Florida?
Mickey:
Yeah, A1A, the whole road north to south!
Me:
What would you say inspired you to start skating?
Mickey:
I thinks its the only thing I remember having fun doing  as a kid.
Me:
Growing up did you have any favorite skaters?
Mickey:
I was stoked on anyone that was shredding back in the day but it was really my friends that showed me what skating is all about.
Me:
Do you have any hobbies, pets, or girlfriends you wanna talk about?
Mickey:
  I have none of those.
Me:
Wow, so its just straight skate, no chaser for you?
Mickey:
Yup, no distractions at the moment.
Me:
Its nice to see that type of dedication homie!
Ok, I have a two part question and then we are done. Where would you like to be buried and what would you like written on your tombstone?
Mickey:
I would like to be buried under the Lula Bowl at Skatopia and I would like it to say on my tombstone...GO SKATE!
Me:
Haha! Thats awsome Mickey! I will hit you up when I post this in October. I owe you a steak and a beer. Peace!
